چکیده

Background Recent studies suggest that quantitative myocardial T1 mapping allows assessment of focal and diffuse fibrosis in the myocardium [1]. Quantitative T2 mapping has also been proposed to overcome challenges associated with T2 weighted imaging [2]. These maps are traditionally acquired with different sequences, necessitating image registration to evaluate them jointly. A sequence that can jointly estimate T1 and T2 maps has been proposed [3], but it requires multiple relaxation cycles, which necessitates a lengthy free-breathing acquisition. In [4], an alternative joint estimation sequence was proposed based on the inversion-recovery SSFP curve. In this study, we sought to develop a saturation-recovery

Joint myocardial T1 and T2 mapping using a combination of saturation recovery and T2 -preparation.

PURPOSE To develop a heart-rate independent breath-held joint T1 -T2 mapping sequence for accurate simultaneous estimation of coregistered myocardial T1 and T2 maps. METHODS A novel preparation scheme combining both a saturation pulse and T2 -preparation in a single R-R interval is introduced. The time between these two pulses, as well as the duration of the T2 -preparation is varied in each ...

Performance of T1 mapping vs. T2 mapping for assessing myocardial edema

Background Edema is an early feature of acute myocardial injury. Signal-intensity based analysis of T2-weighted images is established but known to have a high variability. T2 mapping and, more recently, T1 mapping have been proposed for assessing myocardial edema. We investigated the ability to accurately detect myocardial edema following defibrillation with T2 maps and two different T1 mapping...

T1 and T2 mapping reveal contribution of hemorrhage in myocardial remodeling following acute myocardial infarction

Background Hemorrhage is a frequent complication in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and is speculated to be an independent predictor of adverse outcomes [1]. In addition to infarct zone remodeling, the distal remote myocardium may experience alterations vasodilator dysfunction, edema, and extracellular matrix (ECM) expansion [2-4]. The aim of our study was to understand the impact of hemorrha...

T1 and T2 mapping detect myocardial edema after repeated 200J electrical cardioversion

Background Electrical defibrillation and cardioversion are important and sometimes life-saving interventions. However, it remains controversial whether the intervention itself can significantly damage the heart. Myocardial edema is an early feature of myocardial injury that can be visualized by T2-weighted sequences. Newer approaches utilize T2 as well as T1 mapping techniques. We used T1 and T...

Myocardial edema as detected by pre-contrast T1 and T2 CMR delineates area at risk associated with acute myocardial infarction.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to determine whether cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in vivo T1 mapping can measure myocardial area at risk (AAR) compared with microspheres or T2 mapping CMR. BACKGROUND If T2-weighted CMR is abnormal in the AAR due to edema related to myocardial ischemia, then T1-weighted CMR should also be able to detect and accurately quantify AAR. METHODS Dogs (n =...
